The 3rd "World Forum of Cities and Territories of Peace" begins
The first virtual meetings of the “3rd World Forum of Cities and Territories of Peace” will take place from October 5 to 7, 2020, in order to launch the reflections that will serve as the foundation for the face-to-face World Forum in 2021.
The celebration of the 3rd "World Forum of the Cities and Territories of Pau" in charge of Mexico City, was scheduled for these days, but due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide it had to be postponed until 2021. Despite this situation, this meeting was not waived instead it was adapted, now starting a process of reflection that will culminate in 2021 with the celebration of the World Forum of Cities and Territories of Peace in Mexico City. This forum is not only promoted by Mexico, but also has an international organizing committee that is made up of different governments, entities and international organizations.
These virtual meetings will be composed of different plenaries, spaces for the exchange of experiences and reflection, workshops, etc., and it will deal with topics as relevant as law in the city, migrations and racism, global agendas, gender equality, etc., all of them with the axis driver of the construction of peace and coexistence.
This will be the 3rd edition of a Forum that began in Madrid in 2017 with the participation of some 10,000 people from more than 100 different countries and from various sectors (governments, civil society, academia, entrepreneurship, etc.). This meeting is understood as a process of reflection and global multi-level and multi-stakeholder advocacy, where political solutions to real problems are offered based on the construction of coexistence and peace in our territories as necessary elements for sustainable development.
