The call for the 2019 UCLG Peace Prize is open
The call for applications for the second edition of the UCLG Peace Prize has been opened. This award is promoted by United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) in collaboration with Barcelona Provincial Council, the Association of Dutch Municipalities VNG, the Province of Guipuzkoa, the municipality of Trömso (Norway), PAX International and the Vfonds Foundation (Netherlands).
The UCLG Peace Prize was created in 2015 with the aim of promoting local innovative initiatives that promote peace and conflict resolution. It is a triennial award, open to any local government around the world that implements strategies for conflict resolution, peace building and post-conflict reconstruction, or provide positive assistance to local governments in conflict zones. The initiatives must have been carried out within a period not exceeding 3 years prior to the nomination.
Candidatures can be submitted until next April 30. The prize will be awarded in the framework of the next UCLG World Congress that will take place in Durban (South Africa).
