Launch of the 9th AL-LAS publication on the internationalization of cities: "Local Alliances for Global Challenges"
In recent years there has been a remarkable evolution of the international action of local governments, both for the positions that the mayors of the world have expressed before the challenges contained in the global agendas and with concrete impacts on the territory, as in practice, with the development of innovation and experimentation laboratories that seek to capitalize on the intelligence of cities applied to public policies in various fields.
This ninth edition of the collection of Publications for the Internationalization of Cities has been drafted by the Euro-Latin American Alliance for Cooperation between Cities (AL-LAS) within the framework of the 2017-2018 Integral Cooperation Program, in collaboration with the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities and edited by the Complutense University of Madrid.
The publication offers readers elements to think about new formats of specific city alliances, which, as part of political dialogue and cooperation, seek to respond to a position of national governments and international institutions; promote local voice in international spaces or to offer concrete territorial solutions to global issues such as climate change, migration and social cohesion.
